Shito-Ryu

(Karate We Teach)

Shito-Ryu

Family Karate Center teaches Japanese karate called Shito-Ryu. This is one of the five major systems of Japan. We teach mainly the Kotaka-ha system of Shito-Ryu, named after Sensei Chuzo Kotaka of Hawaii, the winner of the 1952 All-Japan Karate Tournament.

Karate means "empty hands". We do not restrict ourselves to just kicking, punching, striking, and blocking. We teach you to survive off your feet as well. Throwing, falling, choking, pressure point, and joint attacks are all part of our "Empty Hands" instruction. We are not restricted at all.
